I just bought one and it's a freaking headache

Hi there :) did you get it to go? I just bought one and it's a freaking headache! I think I got ripped off but I am determined at the same time... I can't seem to find any straight forward instructions and ChatGBT is helpful but at the same time has steered me wrong costing me literally hours of time until I realised ie netgear1 not netgear etc. I even went and bought a SAT cable - but it was the wrong one so have to take it back and get a powered one... it's very frustrating isn't it? I just wanted to back up all my music/recordings/plugins etc... jaedster@hotmail.com

What exactly did you buy?  There should be a small label on it (RNxxxxx).  A combination of that and the details of what is says on the front panel shoulld be enough.

That tells me that the ReadyNAS you purchased is at least 12 years old.  What you can do with it depends on the specifics of what you have.

What cable are you talkng about?????

No ReadyNAS uses a coax (SAT) cable.
