Mac permissions RAIDiator 4.2.31
I am running a graphics department with many mac and windows users.
There are some files on the NAS that only certian macs (accidentally) have permissions to see.
I want to make a hard copy of the entire data set but I am not able to copy all the files because they can only be coppied by the mac that put them on (some of wich are no longer running)
I tried restoring from a retrospect backup but the folders with permissions problems copy over but they are empty
Can I create a user that overides all permissions so I can copy all the data?
Or achive this in some other way?
I just want to make a copy of ALL the data on the NAS
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!
This might speed things up...
First, on the CIFS screen, scroll down to the "advanced cifs" section in both shares and make sure it's configured as shown below:
After you'd done this click apply, and go back to the advanced options screen:
Also check the "Set ownership" box before you click apply. The check will immediately clear when you click apply. It will make sure that all the files and folders in the share have these permissions set correctly.

Start by resetting the file permissions for each share. Do you know the steps needed to do that?
You can also use the NAS admin credentials in finder - that will give you access to all the files.

Thanks Stephen for the quick response!!
I will try the second option first so I can get the copy of all the data done.
Then I will try messing with the permissions for each share in case I goof something up. (I do not know how to do it but I would think it is something I can figure out...)
I suspect my backups are not even complete since the backup mac is not logged in as admin!!
Thabks again! I'll let you know how it goes.
Have a great weekend!!!
