Maximum Snapshot Age (per share)
Although the snapshots are automatically thinned, some of them are still retained forever. So at some point I still need to go in and manually delete them.
I'd like a setting for each share which specifies the age of the oldest snapshot I want kept. Months seems like the units.

- vandermerweMasterIt's a good idea. There isn't an easy way to see when the space taken by snapshots is approaching the point where they are filling the free space, or is there?

I haven't filled the volume to the point where that fail safe triggers.mdgm wrote: Manual snapshots will not be deleted automatically, but other snapshots should be deleted if there is insufficient free space on the data volume. Have you not found this to be the case?
And I do consider it a fail safe - I'd rather not wait until the volume gets really full for the snapshots I don't need to be deleted. I don't need old versions of files forever, so I'd probably set a max threshold of 3 months on most shares.
