Migration from older to new ReadyNAS
My long used (>10 years) ReadyNAS NV+ just ended its live, the power supply (I guess) did give up today. So it is time to look out for a new home fo rmy data. Since a ReadyNAS served me well I saw ...

It should be not true, because if the spare/borrowed unit has any kind of flash ram, there should be v4.1.9 firmware. I checked.
But old/defected unit and my disk set (and the unit) had v4.1.12 firmware.
I just simply put the 4 disks without any preparation or action, simply boot up from my disks and after FileSystem checking it was fully accessible with my old permissions and shares.
Of course I will check the situation after the backup process.
I will put an empty disk alone into unit and check the firmware.
Another interesting fact... the borrow unit has only 256MB memory module... reads only 10-11MB/sec... my old unit had 1GB RAM module, there was 18MB/sec read...
Of course HDDs are smart error free, RAID is perfect... so I dont know why does this diff.
