Moving disk to empty place, with same order

Hi, I have a 628x running 6.10.1, with 6 disks on place 1,2,3,4,5,6. 7 and 8 are empty. I'd like to move disks, keeping the exact same order, to 1,2, 4,5, 7,8, with 3 and 6 empty, in order to impro...

    We do not suggest doing such procedure since it might put your data at risk unless you have a full backup of data in case of any failure and a very good reason why you would do this.

     

    To answer your question, This should be possible without getting the RAID inactive but you should consider checking the disks health first. The RAID information is actually on the Disks so transferring them to another NAS or another Bay should get it detected and properly mounted.

     

    You can do this while the NAS is turned OFF and NOT while it is turned ON. The disks will be recognized as failed if you try to do hot swap.
