RN300 series (and above) that were puchased after June 1 2014 have lifetime chat/email support, the RN200 series has only 90 days. So take that into account when you price out your options.

I understand the importance of support but I was looking at the price point. $400 + for a NAS is expensive for just the home use? or no? Like I mentioned im new to this so not sure on the range people are purchasing these items.

They are specialized PCs, and are priced accordingly.
If you are price-sensitive you can look into 2-bay units or the RN104. There is a performance dropoff with the RN100 series, especially with streaming/plex. The RN200 series and above supports real-time transcoding, which is often needed.
