Need help to access the contents of my RN10400 device which I purchased in 2016

Hi there

I need help to access the data contents of my NAS RN10400 device.

It is very old, but as it has been rarely used except to upload data for safe keeping, it hasn't been much of an issue.

Recently I changed to a new PC, and now I am no longer able to access the contents via the RAIdar app.

The device is visible when I open the RAIDar app and all 4 HDDs are marked as healthy.  But when I click on the button to browse the contents of my 4 device hard drives, I get an error message that tells me that they are inaccessible because I don't have permission (how do I know if I do or not?), or the device is off (it's not), or it's not on the network (it must be if I can see it, and also it is plugged into my PC via a Cat 5 cable).

I don't have much knowledge regarding the device, as it was all set up for me about about 4 PCs ago.

Each time I have changed PCs, I have been able to access through the RAIDar app, except this time.

I don't know what has changed, but I am unable to purchase support as apparently my device is too old.  Any advice you have for this bumbly would be greatly appreciated.  I have a lot of photos, and memories on the NAS and would be devastated if I lost them.

Please help me...

    Are you able to log into the NAS Web UI?  You can do that by browsing to https://nas-ip-address/admin (substituting the actual IP address you see in RAIDar for the NAS for "nas-ip-address".  For instance, if the IP Address is 192.168.1.14, then browse to https://192.168.1.14/admin 

     

    You will need to click through a security warning in the browser, and then you will be prompted for a username/password.  The username is "admin".  If you don't know the password, then try the default password (which is "password").  If that doesn't work, then post back and we can help you reset the admin password.

     

    Once you have access to the NAS web ui, we can sort out how to regain access.

    All devices will fail, so if you want to keep your data safe you need to have a backup plan in place (saving the files in more than one place).  Hopefully we help you regain access to the files.  Once done, you need make at least one copy that you save somewhere else.  That could be a cloud backup, and/or a USB drive.
