Net Gear ReadyNAS RN10400 ERR:could not mount boot flash
Hi there, i have tried 2 usb recovery disks, also i have tried the boot menu os reinstall, but i still have this error on the lcd. If i look on raidar i can see tftp REQ, i did try and tftp to the nas but was timing out.
I dont know why this has happened, no updates on firmware.
Can anyone advise. I have 2 disks in the bays. And am reluctant to do a factory reinstall if i lose my data.
Thanks for your time
Steve

I suggest contacting support.
- omicron_persei8LuminaryOne thing you could do confirm a problem with the flash is:
1) power off the nas
2) remove and label all the drives with the bay number
3) use an old or spare hdd (one you don't care about its content as it will be wiped), insert it in the nas
4) factory default via the boot menu
-> if you get the same error, there is an issue with the flash. That's most likely considered as part of hardware so covered by hardware warranty. NETGEAR support might be able to fix it remotely.
-> if you don't get any error and the new system is usable, then the flash is ok and the problem elsewhere. You should contact NETGEAR support but you'll have to check your support entitlement.
To revert:
5) power off the nas
6) remove the temporary drive
7) reinsert the old drives according to the labels
(Follow these steps carefully. I'm not responsible for what goes wrong if you don't)
This test will not change anything on your existing drives.- steveipxAspirant
thanks for all your advice, there is an hardware issue with flash, so has been sent to Netgear.
