Netgear Readdynas 102 security

Hey everyone. I'm wanting to make sure this Reaadynas 102 is secure but can't figure it out. is there a firewall I can enable? also, what if I only wanted it accessible internally with no access to the outside world?

Thanks in advanced

There is no internal firewall.  However Netgear is keeping up with linux security patches. If your NAS is being a normal NAT home router with no port forwarding than it is secure.

If you are forwarding ports or all internet traffic, then it might not be - it depends on what you are forwarding, and also on the strength of the passwords you are using. In general using a VPN for remote access is a better option than port forwarding (for instance, the OpenVPN service that is included in Nighthawk and Orbi routers).

And if you enable any cloud services (including ReadyCloud), then you are trusting the cloud provider to keep your data secure (as well as the ReadyNAS itself).  Similarly with apps that provide over-the-internet services (nextcloud, plex, etc).

If you post back on what you plan to enable, we can give more targeted information.
