Netgear RN102 Disk Upgrade
Hi All,
I need to replace again my readyNas disks, because I have reached the maximum capacity of my current 10Tb drives.
I wanted to ask you if, given that the RN102 box in my possession (updated to the latest firmware version) is old, I might have problems mounting 2 18Tb disks (Western digital WD181) that I found on offer.

Thanks for the advice you gave me.
Even though I would have spent less overall, given how I organized my workstation, I don't have space to physically place a 4-disk NAS (I looked at the dimensions of the RN104 and it is too large).
At this point I will try to look for some alternative 2 disks NAS and I will purchase two 18Tb disks at the same time with the new NAS.

With the limited CPU and RAM of the 102, you are going to see some slow-downs with larger drives, though it should work. OS6 has no known drive size limit.
You may want to look into another NAS with least least 4 bays instead. Adding just one more 10TB drive will add more space than replacing them both with 18TB (assuming you are using RAID).
But ReadyNAS are no longer manufactured, so you're looking at a used one or you'll need to switch brands.
IMHO, even a legacy Pro/Ultra 4 with at least 2GB of RAM and converted to OS6 is going to be a step up from a 102, with the exception of the USB connection, because they have only USB2.

While I'm not using these in my own NAS, they should work ok. There is no known size limit, and these are CMR drives.
Syncing the RAID array will take quite a while of course.
