Could you clarify what you've got, you say a 2Tb setup but then you suggest you only have 2 drives of 500gb each? Is this in xraid or raid 1? How much capacity do you need? Is the data on the NAS still intact?
It doesn't sound like you have a backup and you are currently relying on a non - redundant volume. Is this the case.
You should have a backup of data on the NAS.
The nv+ is still a good unit if you just need storage.
You need to buy disks that match you capacity requirements. If a 500 gb volume is sufficient the get another 500 gb disk( I'm assuming you're using xraid). If you think you'll need more capacity then get bigger disks. If the volume is still intact you can add a disk, then once resync is complete you can replace the other disk with a larger one.
