The NAS is not an eSATA/USB peripheral. The eSATA port is for connecting an external hard drive to the NAS.
The NIC (ethernet port) is used for connecting the NAS to your network.
Are both your NAS and PC connected to a gigabit router/switch?What services and apps are you running on your NAS?

Hi Eilonwy,
Either you access the NAS via File Explorer to copy and paste files or create a backup job through the built-in backup manager in the admin page.
Kind regards,
