pre-sale question

I am provisioning a small public library.

They have a private LAN for operatoins and catalogs.

They have a public LAN to provide access the Internet for patrons.

They must not be addressable between each other for obvious reasons.

The ISP is cable (not Comcast).

Which Wireless router is a good fit?

Thanks -

    You are posting this in the ReadyNAS (file server) subforum, so it is in the wrong place.  Hopefully a mod will move it for you.

    Maintaining the separation you want with a home wifi router is tricky, especially if you also have ethernet on the private LAN.  One solution that will work is to use two routers.

    ISP -----> router/gateway --(ethernet)---> second router

                     |                               |

                     |                               |

                     |                               |

                Public LAN                       Private LAN

    The NAT firewall in the second router prevents devices on the Public LAN from reaching the Private LAN.  As far as wifi goes, you'd have two wifi networks - one on the first router, and one on the second.

    There are other ways it can be done, but this is simple, and easy to maintain as the network changes.
