Problems setting up readynas nv+
not a tech head by any means.. husband used to handle this but now has a brain injury and can't speak. have recently had our pc re-built and is now not recognising the readynas, have entered the isp...
Firstly you need to check which NV+ you have as the boot menu is very different depending on which you have. Please read this article: http://www.rnasguide.com/2012/01/09/how-to-tell-whether-i-have-a-duo-v1-or-duo-v2-or-nv-v1-or-nv-v2/
An OS Re-install (a boot menu option) would reset the admin password to the default one for your NAS.
For the Duo v1 the default password is 'netgear1' (no quotes)
For the Duo v2 the default password is 'password' (no quotes)
The admin user for both is 'admin' (no quotes)
thank you, its a NV+1.. 2 questions, how do I re-boot and if I do, will I delete all data that is saved on it?
An OS re-install installs the OS over the top of itself, resets the admin password and some network settings. The data is left intact.
A factory default on the other hand wipes all data, settings, everything.You could follow the instructions in the Hardware Manual for the Duo/NV+ v1.
You press and hold the reset buttonTurn the NAS on
Keep holding the reset button
Release the reset button after about 5 seconds (the disk LEDs will blink once)
You should see that it is doing an OS re-install indicated on the display of the NASIf you somehow "accidentally" held the reset button in for about 30 seconds (I don't see how it is possible to hold it in that long by mistake) you would have 10 minutes to power down the NAS anyway you can to abort the factory default before it wipes the disks.
