Protection agains ransomware

Hi.
Is there a script I can run on my NAS to protect it from ransomvirus. I was thinking something like; if I save an Excel fil I would have to enter a pin code which would be valid for a limited time for that program. If I wanted to save a Word file I would have to enter that pin code again.

I do have a portable disk that I backup the NAS to every third month, which my wife has in a drawer at her work.

Every file written to the NAS is also backed up in the sky. I don't know how well these files are protected against ransomware.

Cheers

Martin

It's good you have a backup plan in place.  The USB drive should give you good protection from a ransomware attack, as long as the attack isn't in progress when you make the backup.  You could improve it by using two alternating drives (maybe backing up every month instead of every 3 months).

How well protected the cloud copy is depends on the cloud service.  Many do have protection from ransomware attacks.

An interesting concept, but I don't know of any good way to implement it.
