RAM Upgrade, Fan replacement, UPS, RNDU4000
I want to upgrade my RAM in my RNDU4000. Comes with 1GB. What is the maximum for RNDU4000? Is it one or two modules? Ive read that the maximum is 4GB for this unit. Is that correct? 1x4GB, 2x2GB? ...
Please help me find one or more RAM canditate that will work. 4Gb.
The only one ive found is that G.Skill but it isnt cheap. 130 euro.
Those old SO-DIMM DDR2 RAM are really expensive. The DDR3 and DDR4 are really inexpensive and can be found litterly everywere.
Looking for 667mhz or 800mhz one that is compatible.
Living in Sweden so must be able to ship to Sweden.
That is a very high price. I find compatible A-Tech SODIMMs on eBay for around $50US.
The reason the 4GB sticks (both SODIMM and DIMM) are so much more expensive is that most users at the time PC2-5400/6200 was common were running 32-bit OSes that could only use 4BG total. And since most computers had at least two slots, only up to 2GB sticks were made in quantity. Anything you see for sale today was likely made years ago.
Most 64-bit OSes were servers, where registered and/or ECC RAM (neither of which will work on the NAS in question) are generally used, so the vast majority of sticks above 2GB won't work.
Unless you are running memory-hungry apps, you will not likely see any significant improvement of 4GB over 2GB.

Ive searched at the same A-Tech and there are quite a lot of 2 and 4gb sticks.
Might want to try one 4Gb and also a 2Gb.
As far as i understand the CPU in this NAS support the PC-6400 (800Mhz)
Or is the 667mhz PC-5400 the only one that will work? Can you please provide me link/links to RAM that will work? Both 2 and 4gig.

Unfortunately, A-Tech doesn't label their RAM as to whether it's 2Rx8 or 2Rx4, and I have not bought any in those specific packages, but none I have bought has been 2Rx4 (which won't work). Consequently, I believe any of those will work, but cannot say from personal experience.
So, please provide me links to RAM that WILL work..
I cannot quarantee that RAM that is not fully labeled will work, but I did state that I believe what you pointed to will work.
Beyond that, I am not your shopping assistant.
I will take the risk and try it.
Dont want to spend 130 euro for the G.Skill that will work.

I have some new alternatives.. costs about the same as the A-tech. around 45 euro
I hope 800Mhz version will work. CPU supports it.

Crucial also does not fully label their memory as to whether they are 2Rx4 or 2Rx8, so you'll have to go to their site and see if they specify there.
- I have not found any RAM yet.. very hard to find.
