Ready NAS NV+

Provided that your disks are stlll in healthy condition you can actually purchase a similar model and it should be just fine plugging the disks back in order. However, you may get a unit second hand already since this are already EOL.
What I can advice is to purchase an OS 6 Unit and have your disks migrated to it. Here is a link on the disk migration from NV+ to an OS 6 unit.
Support will assist you on getting your data and transferring it to a different disk.
What you will need for Support to attempt recovery of your data:
- The RAID from your legacy ReadyNAS must be in working order for the data to be recovered. If the RAID is broken it may require further analysis from Technical Support and the data may not be recoverable.
- Disks from the legacy ReadyNAS
- ReadyNAS OS 6 chassis
- One spare blank disk
- An alternate location to where the data can be transferred i.e. External USB HD, network share, another NAS device.
- Note: the alternate location must have enough capacity to accomodate the data coming from the volume of the legacy ReadyNAS.
To prepare the ReadyNAS OS 6 for data recovery:
- Insert the spare blank disk into the ReadyNAS OS 6 chassis
- Reset to factory defaults. Follow this guide to access the boot menu
- Perform a firmware update of your ReadyNAS.
- At this point please contact support, they will determine the necessary steps to attempt recovery of the data.
Once the data is made available using the ReadyNAS OS 6 device, the following actions can be taken:
- Copy off all the data to the alternate location.
- access the boot menu
- Restore data to the new volume on the OS 6 NAS from the alternate location. See our Backup FAQ
Note: The method to bring the data online inside the ReadyNAS OS 6 device only allows for the data to become accessible to be copied to an alternate location.
Or you can also try to use ReclaiMe software if you want to recover your data without the NAS.

ReadyNAS Ultra 2 is also an EOL unit and it is also running on RAIDiator 4.2 not OS 6.
Both have different architecture, NV+ runs with Sparc and Ultra 2 on X86 and migration is only allowed on the same architecture. If you plan to move to Ultra 2 then you need to have your NV+ working first. You may want to check on this unofficial guide from @mdgm on moving from a Sparc ReadyNAS to X86 ReadyNAS very good information you can read on this unofficial guide if you will push through with the Ultra 2.
I would still advice getting an OS 6 unit like the RN200 series or RN400 series this way you will have the latest support and of course features. You will also have 90 Days phone support included.Migrating to RAIDiator 4.1 or 5.3 to OS 6

If you are asking if you can directly migrate your current disks to the new NAS and read your data, the answer to that is no.
If you are willing to pay Netgear to temporarily mount your disks in a new NAS (so you can offload your data), then you'd need to get a current OS-6 NAS (RN212 or RN422 are the two-bay models). You'd need to purchase these new, and not used.
If you only have two disks in your current system (RAID-1 or XRAID), you can try connecting disk 1 to a Windows PC (either sata or with a USB dock/adapter), and install r-linux for windows in the PC. http://www.r-tt.com/free_linux_recovery/
If you have four drives in your NV+ in XRAID configuration, then no two-drive unit will work for migration or recovery. If you have three drives, then you might be able to recover from two, which would comprise a degraded volume. But as StephenB said, not to a legacy unit running anything other than OS4.1.x (for direct mounting) or 6.x (for recovery with Netgear's assistance). While OS6 will run on the Ultra2, it's not supported and Netgear Support will not assist you.
