That's a bit expensive for my budget so I'll have to create a new volume and try to recover what I can from backups. I'm a bit disappointed though that replacing a disk in a raid-5 lost everything - doesn't fill me with confidence.

You could try deleting one of the volumes, and see if it comes back. But I'm not sure which one. JohnCM_S or Marc_V might be able to tell - try downloading the logs and send them a downloadable link via PM (private message). You'd do that using the envelope icon in the upper right of the forum page.
