Readynas 1100 Motherboard

Hi Guys, Can anyone help me out? I'm in need of the Motherboard for the Readynas 1100. Unit will not turn on after an improper shutdown. Powersupply has already been swapped out. Any ideas?

So you get no response when you try to turn the unit on?

We don't sell replacement motherboards and anyway the 1100 has been EOL for years now.

Do you have some data on the 1100 you need to attempt to recover? Or do you have backups you can restore from?

Thank you for the reply.

Correct, no response when I try to turn the unit on. After an improper shutdown during an electrical black out, the backup battery was inadvertantly turned off. And therefore, the 1100 was improperly shut down. Since then pressing the power button will not turn the unit off. I realized that the power supply was toast. I then replaced it. However, the unit still fails to turn on. two computer technicians feel that it's one of the other two boards and suggested I reach out to Netgear and it's communities.

Unfortunately, all I have are the four drives that were installed. And yes, there are quite a bunch of important (to me) files on them. May I ask what are my options? Can this unit be repaired? Any suggestions where? Can I simply install these drives in a newer model Netgear case? Any guidance would be incredibly appreciated.

If you are good with linux, you can mount the drives on an x86 linux system and copy the data off.

There are data recovery services that can do this for you (Netgear offers one, Seagate does as well. WDC lists their data recovery partners on their website). Netgear can also do this in conjunction with a new NAS purchase (esp. if you buy a business machine like the RN314 or the rack-mount RN 3220)

If you can find a second hand 1100 you can migrate the disks. You should be able to do that as well with an NV+ v1 (though Netgear should confirm). Cloning the disks might be a good idea first (just in case).

When you get the data off, then you should put a backup strategy in place.
