ReadyNAS 202

Can folders with many files be transfered at one time? In other words I have many video files within a folder and sub folders as well. It would be a pain to cerate seperate folders and then copy files to them!

  • Hi Garrfish,

Since there are too many files, it would be better if you will use Windows Explorer to copy and paste files in your ReadyNAS. Check this NETGEAR article for more information.

    Hope this helps!

  • If I understand the question correctly then yes a folder with many files can absolutely be transfered all at once. The more files in one folder the longer it will take for a transfer over a network to complete. If the transfer is occuring from one folder to another on the ReadyNAS than it should happen fairly quickly.

    Hope this helps.

      Hi Garrfish,

      Welcome to the community!

I agree with sharpycl. Why won't you just create a new folder on your PC and compile all the files that you want to copy or transfer to your ReadyNAS. A backup job, would be much easier and faster rather than copy and paste through Windows explorer.

      Kind regards,

Thanks for the quick reply. Here is the issue... If i drag and drop a folder (from my computer) with many files in that folder, lets say the video folder in the nas 202 nothing happens! If I drag and drop a file or files from a folder (on my computer) then the files are copied. NAS also says to use web browser like chrome for better results. I have tried ie, chrome, and firefox and get the same issues. What am I doing wrong?

Make sure your network shares have allowed Read/Write permissions for the folder you are trying to copy too. If you can copy from the share but not write to it your permissions may need to be changed on the NAS.
