readyNAS 312 firmware problem
Hi
I have been trying to upgrade the firmware using the 6.10.5 hotfix 1 link from the admin page but I get this error message:
"Can't resolve host name. Communication error. Check internet connection, DNS settings, or proxy settings"
Internet working OK.
Please advise as to what DNS or proxy settings needed.
Also, I can see the file structure on the network within the admin page but when I try to open a folder from windows explorer, it asks for network credentials, and does not like my Netgear user name or password.
I am confused!

Looks like something went a bit wrong with dhcp.
Try rebooting the router, then reboot the NAS as well.

Are you using DHCP for the NAS?
If not, have you tested to see if the NAS can access the internet?

Thanks, StephenB!
Not quite sure how to answer you: please forgive a relative newbie to this stuff.
The NAS is recognised on the router which is using DHCP.
I accessed the NAS via the admin page, but I am not sure how I would "test if the NAS can access the internet". The admin page gives me an "Internet Unavailable" message with the same pop up message as on the system page about "Communication Error. Check your internet connection, DNS Settings or proxy settings", so it would appear not, even though I am on line through the network.
Any advice you can provide as to how to proceed will be gratefully received!

PS I have just tried to log in to the NAS via 192.168.1.100 (its reserved address) and nothing happens!
Perhaps I should just reboot and see ?
