ReadyNAS Duo v2 not working, all lights on.
Hello All - I recently replaced the drives in my ReadyNAS Duo v2 with two Western Digital 4GB Reds. Initially I was able to transfer data over but now the NAS doesn't feature in either Finder or Wi...

Stephen - Thanks for that. I hadn't copied much data over and virtually all of it is backed up. I'd really like it not to be an expensive door stop if anyone has any ideas. And, yes reseting with no discs in didn't achieve anything. In that sense it was identical to reseting with the discs in situ. Ian.

I think you need to test the disks in a PC (either with WD's lifeguard or dashboard).
Do you still have one of the old drives? You could try booting up the NAS with just one of those drives in place, and see what happens.
Are you using the WD40EFAX? That is an SMR drive (like all WD Reds) - not something I recommend for ReadyNAS. I do recommend the WD Red Plus drives.

Stephen -
Thanks for the suggestions. Off hand I can't remember whether the HDDs are Red or Red Plus but I'll check. Whichever, they were recommended for NAS drives on WD's web site but not specifically for the ReadyNAS.
I have an external SATA/USB device for internal HDDs and I have WD's Dashboard, is that close enough to testing them "...in a PC..."?
And I'll try an old disc as well. Later today.
Thanks.
Ian.

Yes.

For sure. And the backlash was pretty fierce, and resulted in the creation of the Red Plus line.
