ReadyNAS NV+ (v1) - PSU death? What to do next

Hello

We had a power failure for much of the afternoon here 3 days ago. My PC and my ReadyNAS share a UPS, so I was able to connect to Frontview and shut the ReadyNAS down from there. When power was restored it would not turn back on. That state of affairs has persisted in the time since.

I've tried some of the suggestions I've come across on the forum - unplugging the power cable for 10 or 15 minutes, then plugging it back in; pressing the power button at different angles to rule out sticking - but nothing makes any difference. When the Ethernet cable is plugged in to the back of the device, it is not illuminated.
There are no burning smells.

Prior to this, the unit had been running perfectly.

I had a PC that exhibited the same symptoms not long ago. It wouldn't switch on initially, but repeated attempts to power it up were sometimes successful, though that required 50 or 60 tries. I put that down to a faulty PSU, and I'm wondering whether it might be the same issue in this case.

I've been in touch with Netgear technical support. The machine is out of warranty (by about 6 months), so no free replacement. Clearly they can't make a perfect diagnosis based on this information, but they agreed it could be the PSU and it was suggested I take it to an electronics shop to have this tested. I might consider that if it would be worthwhile.

I've only been able to find 1 replacement PSU online for $320... I could pretty much buy a completely new unit for that, but I gather more recent iterations won't work with older versions of XRAID or something? So if I did that presumably I wouldn't be able to do a straight disk swap.

So I'm not sure how to move forward from here - which option to take - and I'd really appreciate some advice.

Thank you very much in advance
