Readynas pro 4 stuck at booting...
Hi, MY Readynas pro 4 is stuck at booting, factory reset just hangs and does os reinstall. I can get the the boot menu but every entry i try just hangs on booting?? any help would be appericated...
Are you trying to do factory reset (which deletes all data), or just wanting to boot it up?

ii want to start a new riad setup so i need to wipe the drive and start again, the nas comes up in RAIDar breifly and says booting but then it goes away and RAIDar shows nothing connected. the little screen says ERR. cannot Write??? not sure what it says as its doent display it for very long. Am i not leaving it long enough to do the reset? does it take a while with one 2TB drive in it??

I'm not sure what's going on. Are you following the procedure on pages 21-22 here? http://www.downloads.netgear.com/files/GDC/RNDU2000/ReadyNAS_Ultra_UltraPlus_NVX_Pro_HW_en_8July11.pdf
But there is another way to start over.
Try putting the disk into a Windows PC (either with SATA or a USB adapter/dock). First test the disk using the extended disk test with vendor tools (Lifeguard for WDC; Seatools for Seagate). Assuming that passes, then zero the disk (using the erase test in the tools).
Then if you put the disk in the NAS and power it up, the NAS should do a fresh factory install.
i do follow that procedure to get to the boot menu. how long should a facoty reset take?? im also reading about corruptted internal flash that holds the data that factory reset and os reinstall comes from.
