I have now successfully replaced the PSU unit in the system fan on the Pro. Everything is working just fine. I would like to change the CPU fan, however, be cool master fan suggested as a replacement has only three connectors. If I were to change the CPU fan I've heard that the system software has no impact over fan speed at this point given that this is a three connectors CPU fan. Is this true?

I replaced one with a Delta EFC0812DB-PWM, which is 4-pin and available from eBay, Amazon, and Digikey. The speed range is similar to the stock fan and it maintains a similar CPU temperature. Evercool also makes an 80x80x15 4-pin fan, but iot's not rated for speeds below 200RPM and it produces a lower flow rate than th Delta.
I have another starting to make some noise, so expect to be doing it to another one soon.
