ReadyNAS RN516 Drive Compatibility

I checked the Netgear site (http://kb.netgear.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/20641/~/readynas-hard-disk-compatibility-list) for 6TB drive compatibility, and it lists the Seagate Enterprise Capacity ST6000NM0024, with no caveats for installation. When I received my drive, I attempted to insert it in the tray, only to find that the teats on the tray do not line up (the middle teats have no slot to insert into). Additionally, when I shaved the tray teats to allow the drive to insert, the tray with drive installed will not lock into place once it is inserted as far as it will go into the NAS.

Why does a compatible drive not fit? What can I do to correct this?

Any assistance is appreciated.

one solution is to take out the plastic rack for screwless installation from the metal tray. just secure the hard drive with screws to the metal tray

That is a much better solution than changing the plastic insert.
