Using 524X with firmware 6.10.9 Finally had a disk fail. the disk test option from front view reporting error, but no reasons given, smart status wasn't showing errors. well I tried to resync it just in case, but that just led to corrupted volumed, so then I basically did a boot menu disk test...which ran all the way through and reported one disk with failures, so I pulled that disk out and attempted to do a factory reset with the 3 remaining disks (which have some corrupted volume state). The factory reset from boot menu fails and raider gives message about corrupt root. One of the disks showed up as RED in front view and I see message about removing the other two in order to use it, or something.. well anyway I tried to remove that disk and did a factory reset successfully with just two disks..and that worked fine. However, then its reseting as Raid1 rather then raid5. I tried to "format" the one showing up as red, didn't seem to make any difference. or maybe didn't work I can't remember now. Eventually I figured out it was showing the old corrupted volume still, so I managed to destroy that volume and then it no longer displayed as red, however doing another factory reset with all three drives, hoping for raid5, fails...and raidar says corrupt root. What is the secret method to completely wipe all three disks and factory reset this thing to a clean slate? as I understand it, ReadyNAS OS is doing something to prevent me from being able to wipe it as as protection to make sure we don't accidentally lose important data..but in this case I want to wipe it, completely and start over...is there no way to do this?ReadyNAS 316 additional drives
I have two 3.0TB WD Red drives (WD30EFRX, September 2014) in my 6 bay RE316. It's time to expand my data capacity, and I was hoping someone could advise on my best options. Would I need to buy another pair of the same drives to double capacity? Or can I install a single higher capacity drive? Thanks, MaxSolvedReadyNAS Pro 6 RNDP6000-200 on OS6 - What is the Maximum Hard Drive Size?
Hey everyone, I have a ReadyNAS Pro 6 running the latest version of OS 6 and I was wondering if anyone knew what the maxium hard drive capacity is? I'm currently running 6x 3tb drives, though I'm looking at potentially purchasing 6x 10tb or 12tb drives and I wanted to make sure this would work. I'm uncertain if my NAS is the original RNDP6000 or V2. Unsure if that matters. I've upgraded the NAS to a Core2Duo CPU and upped the ram to 4gb as well. Thanks in advance!Solvednetgear readynas 1100
Hello i am new here and i have a netgear readynas 1100 with Firmware: RAIDiator 4.1.16 [1.00a147] I have 3 of 2 tb Seagate ST2000DL003-9VT166 [ 1863 GB ] and are all healthy. when I place them, ιτ sees two of the three, the other one is blinking yellow, I read that it gets up to 4 tb, i put 6 to get 4 with raid 5 . Is any solution avaliabe?Moving System from Readynas 516 to 716
I'm considering buying a 716 chassis and moving my 516 disks to the new chassis. As I understand it there should not be any problem moving the volumes as long as I move all of the disks for the volumes (correct me if I am wrong), however I want to move my system also. I have applications installed and I added virtualbox which modifies the OS. Can I move the system harddisk to the new system, i.e. will the harddisk and system software be compatible? And if not, what would be the suggested way for me to move? Thank you to all in advance. I am presently running OS 6.1.Dual LAN connectivity
I am looking into getting the ReadyNAS 422 to store media files and some documents. My issue is I have 2 computers that are on LAN 1 that has internet and 2 devices that are on LAN 2 that can not have internet. I understand aggregation but can I use one port for LAN1 and the other for LAN2? Also Is there a way to access files then through windows explorer just like if I had an 2nd hard drive installed?SolvedJBOD discs disappear and reappear on each boot - ReadyNASRND2000v2 (2 discs)
Hello, I have a ReadyNASRND2000v2 operating in JBOD mode with two 4TB discs. Disc 1 is named C, Disc 2 is named D. Some time ago, (Use the uploaded JPEG for reference) when the NAS was idling Sun Jun 24 12:12:59 EDT 2018 (I was out of town) the Disc 2 just decided to randomly go offline by Disk Removal Detected. You can see in the logs that this behaviour went on for a few times until it stopped at 12:50. Fri Jul 13 05:24:46 EDT I power up the NAS and realise that something is weird with my Disc 2 (this is the first time I notice something is wrong) My computer maps dont connect to PaV or Phone. More recently, I power up the NAS again after testing Disc 2 in a caddy with free recovery software and can see that all my files are still there, so I can only assume that table header info has disappeared. I was able to check off the data on Disc 2 to make sure I wasnt needing any of the data (which I wasn't as this data was just a 2nd backup) During all this Disc 1 is operating totally fine. Last night, I decide to erase Disc 2 and start it fresh. Once thats done, I then set about backing up Disc 1. I have two items I want to backup (as I dont have confirmed copies of this data elsewhere). A share called "CCTV" and a personal folder called "Jonny". The "Jonny" folder I backup via my PC to an external disc connected to my PC and that happened during the night (last night) and completed successfully (it only took 2.5hrs to complete) so effectively finished at about 3AM. I waken up this morning and now fine my CCTV share gone...with more digging around I find that the same behaviour has happened to Disc 1 that happened previously with Disc 2. Sun Oct 14 06:27:09 CEST (when I am still asleep) Disc 1 was removed and yes, history repeats itself. Again, I just looked at this disc in an external caddy and can see that the data is still there, but the NAS has lost its ability to read the disc...table header info??? I'm at a complete loss for words with this NAS. This is the 2nd ReadyNAS I bought (which was the upgrade from the first edition ReadyNASRND2000 I had. I have already had a massive data loss with a HDD in this NAS before. My intention last night was to back up all the data as I felt something was totally wrong with the NAS. Has anyone any idea what the flip is going on? Thanks in advance!Resync not starting after disk replacement
Had disk 4 failure Monday evening. Went to replace it today and when removing the failed disk there was no notice of disk removed. Replaced with new disk of same specs and no ntoification of disk replacement nor any indication of disk resync process begining. Can this unit be rebooted with out problems to see if the resync starts and/or should all information be backed up off unit first?Solved
