ReadyNAs RNDP2000

I found an old ready nas rndp2000 in the back of the server closet . I am trying to get this thing up and running . I added 2 new HD , the raidar app finds it and shows 2 healthy disk , using internet explorer i go to the admin page which is blank , the buttons like refresh do nothing.

Is there anyway to get this thing working again? i would like to be able to format the new HD and build a iscsi just to have some extra storage ,

Any suggested would be greatly appreciated.  Raider shows it running 4.2.30 firmware if that helps ,

thanks

  • Are you sure you're on the admin page?  The admin page has to be accessed via HTTPS and that OS version is limited to TLS V1.1, which most browsers don't currently support.  You are probably on the Shares page, but you have no shares with HTTP access enabled.

Your best bet is to update the NAS to OS6.  But to do that, you need to access the admin page.  Using Firefox and setting the minimum TLS to 1.1 is one way to do that.  Edge in IE mode should also work.

There is a special process for upgrading to OS6, as it's not officially supported by Netgear (not that OS4.2.x is any more, either).  It is best to also first update the RAM to 2GB.  You can find the instructions many places in the forum.  I recommend you use Google or another search engine to find it, as the forum's built-in search is abominable.

      agreed.

navioner - try using firefox, after setting security.tls.version.min to 1 (browse to about:config and search for the setting).

Make sure you are browsing to https://nas-ip-address/admin.  There will still be a certificate warning you need to click through.

After you have access, install this add-on to get TLS 1.2 support.

navioner-  This is a better path than just using the add-on.  If you want to convert to OS-6, you can just post back here asking for instructions.
