Readynas Ultra 4
My RNDU4000 has died. Lightning strike next to the house and a power surge took out a handful of items. I've tried a new ATX PSU modified properly to work and it does nothing, no lights.
Assuming the disks are still good (haven't hooked them up to anything, but removed and labeled them 1-4) What's the easiest method of getting to the data on the four disk array? Is there a newer model that I can stick these disks in to at least read the array? If so what is the ideal model to look for? I'm more than likely going to just buy a new SAN of some kind, and copy the data over to it - so it will be a temporary solution.
Would the RND4000-200NAS work??
Is hooking the 4 disks to a Linux machine worth trying? Will it read the data fast enough to copy them off over the network? The data isn't super important, all large ripped Blurays and DVD's that I can redo but would love to get to it. Thanks for any advice!
Hi seanmcd72,
Welcome to the Community!
You can go with a OS6 4-bay NAS models, which is the RN424 (https://www.netgear.com/business/products/storage/readynas/RN424.aspx#tab-techspecs) or RN524X (https://www.netgear.com/business/products/storage/readynas/RN524X.aspx#tab-techspecs).
You can check this link on how you can access the data from the volume on your legacy ReadyNAS using the new OS 6 chassis and offload it. Once data is offloaded, you need to reset the NAS to factory default so the disks will be reformatted and load the OS6 firmware.

Well I"ve been told of one option yes. Just curious what other options if any might be available to get the files off of the 4 disks assuming they are intact.

No. It would need to be an ultra, a pro, or an OS-6 x86 NAS (RN300 series or better).

An x86 linux system can access the disks. The procedure for mounting the C volume is outlined here: https://community.netgear.com/t5/Using-your-ReadyNAS/Reading-NAS-disk-when-NAS-has-failed/m-p/962814#M89651
