Readynas Ultra 6
My brother gave me a dead Ultra 6. I was able to get it running with 1 Barracuda XT so far.
I upgraded it to 6.9.5 firmware and added ram. It still booted so I assume that it took the ram but I don't know where to look to find out.
I tried to install Plex but I get a message "There was a problem saving these settings".If I relaunch it it comes up with the message "An unclaimed media server has been found on your network. Claim it now?" And I am unable to claim it.
There is also a message "Version 1.11.3.4803 An update is available. Please install manually." It takes me to Plex and I chose Netgear "v.1.42.2.10156-f737b826c September 18, 2025" Which only has Arm7 and Win64. I tried the Arm 7 and it fails. I believe the Ultra 6 is Arm5.
Is there a newer version for the Ultra 6.
If I can get plex to work I'll look for drives. So far all the links for drive compatibility are dead.
If I can't get plex working I don't think it's worth putting anymore money into it.
Thanks

No, it is x86 (so select the Intel 64-Bit package).
It has no GPU, so transcoding performance isn't great. Best to use direct play on that NAS.
The Ultra 6 (RNDU6000) uses a dual-core D510 atom processor. But there is a similar Ultra 6 Plus model (RNDP600U-200) that has an E5300.

Download the log zip file and open mem_info.log. The first line is MemTotal.
If you look in dmesg.com you can confirm the processor (search for smpboot: CPU0: )
I suggest enabling ssh, and also updating software to 6.10.9 or 6.10.10. Note 6.10.10 removes the app install from the web page, but you can still upload plex by pretending the deb file is a firmware update.

Note you need the x86_64 firmware for your NAS.

Not surprising, since they haven't updated it for years (and stopped manufacturing the Ultra 6 back in 2013).
Get NAS-purposed drives (WD Red Plus, Seagate Ironwolf, Toshiba N300) or enterprise-class. Desktop drives are mostly SMR technology, which don't work well with ReadyNAS.
