They likely are compatible.
What drives are you using (manufacturer and model)?

Hi,
Thanks for your help
The hard drives are 2TB Western Digital Caviar Green Drives WD20EARX
Its mostly used for backing up other computers and archive storage, everything that is on the NAS is also stored somewhere else
Thanks

I don't know why they aren't on the list. But they should work ok, though WD20EFRX would be a better option. Personally, I'd try reusing them, but be prepared to replace them if they misbehave.
Generally I recommend NAS-purposed drives (WD Red Plus, Seagate Ironwolf), or of course enterprise-class. I don't recommend WD Reds, as they are SMR (along with some desktop drives from both WD and Seagate).

Great, Thanks for you help,i'll give them a go.
Have the WD reds always been SMR drives? I have them in my other Readynas I use for a media server. The last one I bought was in 2017
Thanks

Some months ago they created the Red Plus line (which is all CMR) and rebranded the WD Red to be SMR. This was in response to be big outcry when folks discovered that WD has silently slipped some SMR drives into the Red line. Seagate and WD both announced they'd identify internal drives as CMR/SMR on their data sheets (though neither is doing that for USB drives).
The current Red (SMR) models are:
- WD20EFAX
- WD30EFAX
- WD40EFAX
- WD60EFAX
The current Red Plus (CMR) models are:
- WD10JFCX (2.5 inch)
- WD10EFRX
- WD20EFRX, WD20EFZX
- WD30EFRX, WD30EFZX
- WD40EFRX, WD40EFZX
- WD60EFRX, WD60EFZX
- WD80EFAX, WD80EFBX
- WD101EFAX, WD101EFBX
- WD120EFAX, WD120EFBX
- WD14EFGFX, WD140EFGX
