READYNAS upgrade suggestions for OS-x

You can get 6 TB on the NV+ (2x2TB xraid), but that would be the upper limit.
12 simultaneous users sounds like an RN516 would be ideal - but that is over your budget (~£600). The RN314 is near your budget range (£428 diskless) and is still a lot faster than the NV+. A 3x4TB configuration would give you ~8TB, with one slot left over for expansion. I'd avoid the RN104 with your user load.
Right now OS6 systems are seeing some lockup issues - Netgear seems to be actively working them, but still it is frustrating for the affected customers. If you can wait, I'd watch the forums for a bit, and see if these issues are resolved before purchasing.
