READYNAS upgrade suggestions for OS-x

Looking at the RN314 - it should be fine for our needs, I cant imagine the partner approving £600 +HD's even though its for our entire work storage!
How much better than an NV+ are we talking - its just it is very slow! ... from what I can see where talking x3 read and x4-5 write over afp approx?
