The 104 has a ARM CPU and 512 MB RAM and may struggle with large volumes (e.g. 4x4TB disks). The 516 has 4GB (that's 8x what's in the 104) RAM and a very fast Intel Ivy Bridge Dual-Core CPU. They are very different devices.
With a new setup it would be advisable to update to 6.1.5 (or later) and then after verifying the update is successful do a factory default (wipes all data, settings, everything). This will give you a clean setup on the new firmware.
