So you were restoring the file from the admin web ui? I'm checking because you can also do this from windows by right-clicking on the file and selecting previous version.

I think this is the real problem. The restore might actually have worked. First try going into the share settings, and try turning SMB off for that share, and then turn it on again.
After that, try entering \\nas-ip-address\sharename or \\nas-name\sharename in windows file explorer, and see if you can access the share (using the real ip address or hostname of course).
You can also try accessing the full data volume using NAS admin credentials. Open CMD and enter
net use * /delete
net use t: \\nas-ip-address\data /user:admin nas-admin-password
using real values for the italicized placeholders. The first command deletes any open network sessions (which will disconnect your other shares). The second mounts the NAS data volume as drive letter t. "data" is the default data volume name, if you manually created the volume you might have a different volume name you'll need to use.
Then you can browse through drive T and see if the restored file is in there.

there a bug in the OS 6.6.1 software update. i had to shutdown unit manually.
then restart it. once it was restarted i downloaded the file i need to restore.
so i had a copy of it. i then tested the restore proces again and it keeps on causing the unit to crash and makes the share offline.
So i shutdown the unit again and restarted it. then click restore agian on the file and the same thing. it puts the folder offline on the network share. :( So there is a problem here.
I have restarted the unit and uploaded the downloaded restore file. to get everything working.
But theres an issue with the restore fuction in the OS 6.6.1 software.!!!
Thank you all
