recovering files- dosattrib

I have an RND2110 v2 which has given many years of trusty service.

But, now it's failed, it's a power issue- started by failing to boot up in the morning (I had it set to turn off overnight) a couple of times and then wouldn't power up at all. 

So, I have a USB drive back up of most of my data, but it's a few days out of date and I would like to recover everything.

I've purchased a new RN212 to set up. I also purchased a USB to 3.5in SATA converter, so that I can plug my drives into the PC. Using R-Linux I have got one of the drives and scanned it and I'm recovering files, which all seems to be working ok.

My problem:

When I recover the files I'm also getting a 2nd file with same name with a .$ea.user.DOSATTRIB suffix

eg: in the folder:

<file name>.png

<file name>.png.$ea.user.DOSATTRIB

I have tried deleting one of the dosattrib files from a recovered folder and it seems to make no diifference to the original file, so I don't think I need it. So, assuming that os the case, is there a way to get rid of them all or to stop them being created?

I'm reasonably tech savvy, but no expert!
