Remote Backup using Apple Time Machine ReadyNAS 426 (2x2TB Enterprise) (RN426E22) 511174EE00125 VPN?
I want to access my Apple time machine on my MacBook to remotely back up from home.
In the office on the same network time machine works great.
Also is it possible to access the admin page remotely somehow?
What about the App VPN software, will that work?
When I open the ReadyCLOUD app on my MacBook away from the office it says "Online VPN Disconnected"
In the office on the same network it works fine
How can I resolve this?

Unfortunately for us, they have abandoned the MacOS client. It has not been updated in 3 years! It will only work when you are on the same network as the NAS device. Some work arounds would be to use DropBox to sync files to their NAS but i have never been able to sync basic files let alone TimeMachine when remote. I have tried on a multitude of Macs and MacOS versions. I have nothing but NetGear routers and switches (although i have began to move to other brands now).
VPN Disconnected has been a problem for years.
The ReadyCloud service will be ended soon anyway, so there isn't much point in pursuing issues with it now.
What have you heard? Is Netgear just going to "brick" this device for a desktop paperweight? Is there another software that will sync with it?
