Remote UPS - Shutdown
I am using a UPS APC Back-UPS ES 700VA connected to another device using a USB cable. This device by using the remote ups option of ReadyNAS RN10400 sends the state of the UPS to ReadyNAS. When the electricity is OUT and the UPS kicks in that device sends this info to ReadyNAS that the electricity is out and it shuts down. ReadyNAS does nothing. Isn't it supposed to shutdown also. Keep in mind that when electricity comes back the device that has the UPS connected will come back to its last state. Your help will be appreciated.

- mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredIt sounds like the QNAP is powering off before telling the ReadyNAS too.
What difference does it make if you increase the number of minutes or change to using the "Turn of the server after the AC power fails for" option. I don't think the ReadyNAS has the "auto-protection" mode so configuring the QNAP to use that could be the problem. - 03397Aspirant

I increased the number of minutes to 5 but again the ReadyNAS was not turned off. But when I changed the QNAP to turn off instead of Auto protection both NASs were turned off.
The think with this is that when the AC comes back none of the two NASs is turned on.
Is there something I can do about that? - mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredYou could contact support and make a feature request, requesting an auto-protection mode similar to what you have with QNAP.
You could get a UPS with longer battery runtime to reduce the number of outages where the NAS will shutdown and thus remain off.
