Many thanks for the comprehensive reply Mark. I can confirm what you say about the RAM - having removed the motherboard to look for it and finding it wasn't there! Having put it all back together I still have the same 2 flashes then a pause of the power button happening. From your list of codes it would seem that means it's not detecting the disks? I'll have a look for a replacement unit and/or power supply perhaps.

Actually it sounds like it might be failing post, since your sequence doesn't really match my list.
It could be power or some other (not repairable) failure.
You could try powering down, removing all the disks, and then see if you get a different pattern (the one that signals no disks).
