Just upgraded to 6.4.0. I use a USB Drive as a share on my Network. Since upgrading a few days ago, I have noticed that I intermittently lose access to the USB Drive, and on inspection I see that t...

Hi dweinshel,
Can you confirm if these external hards drives that used to work are portable and USB powered? Have you tried a different one with an external power supply? I've also sent you a PM for further instructions.
Kind regards,

The change to 6.4.0 has been really a disaster. It's probably not a good sign if Win10 looks good in comparison.
All my backup jobs just stopped working, so I had to re-start them. Unfortunately, the RN102 doesn't recognize my USB disk (connected to back lower port) anymore: an attempt to run backup job says " cannot be mounted". OK, so I try to reformat the drive, and ReadyNAS comes back with "external storage device Expansion_Desk is busy; try later". No idea at all how it got the name "Expansion_Desk", FYI but I thought I'd mention this if it was valuable information. It also says "Format started" but nothing seems to happen. The files themselves in the external drive are accessible - I can go to "shares" and see the sub-directories etc. FYI I succeeded in reformatting my portable HDD on the back top USB port and managed to back up to that disk - I keep that in my office (separate location) and bring it home once a month for backing up. So at least I have a second copy albeit it is going to slowly go out of date over the course of November.
I also tried to take the external drive to format it via my laptop directly, that didn't work (can't remember if I'd formatted it in NTFS / FAT32 originally). Your suggestions are appreciated, as backup is one of THE reasons that people get a NAS system!
BTW, why all the PMs? Are the fixes / suggestions not stable enough for broader release?
Thanks for any help,
Diwakar

The PMs calls to contact support. No Fixes, no suggestion!
Call the support and help him for troubleshooting and spend a lot of time for nothing.
Or buy a better NAS system.
Your choice.
