Great question. It is not connected to a UPS it is dirrectly connected to a wall socket.

Well, being paranoid, I would also try a different wall socket, if you have one in reach.

Thanks for the suggestion. I tried a different outlet and that still didn't solve anything. guess I will try a new power supply

Yup, that would be the next step. However, it could also be, that the power supply is fine, but the nas itself cannot use the power provided for whatever reason.
