RN10400 NAS Power Failure
Hi, Seems I have a power card issue [power cord seems to be fine], lost all power to my Ready NAS 10400. It is an old model so if I upgrade to a new [er] model [ReadyNAS 424] would all my data be fi...

Have just changed over the power cable and all seems to be fine, seems it was just the cable so emergency over for now.
I will get a new cable and also look to upgrade anyway, both these NAS are quite past user date.

You can directly migrate the disks. Though in the specific case of migrating from arm->x86 there are some other steps that would make it a bit safer.
First migrate the disks to your working RN104, and uninstall your apps (as they cannot be migrated automatically to an x86 NAS). Do this migration with the NAS powered down (and label all disks by slot and NAS, so you know exactly where they go).
I also suggest putting in a scratch disk in the new NAS first, and installing the same firmware version that you had running in the RN104.

Did you swap the power adapter with the working RN104, or just check the cord?
Okay, Thanks that all is excellent advice.
I am about to power down my second NAS and try the power cable to the first to test.
Just to confirm I can just remove [in order and lable] the disks from the okay NAS and install the disks [in order] from the first NAS and then remove any apps I have and I should be able to access the data as usual.
After purchasing a new NAS - Then prepare the new NAS [I have a spare disk] setup the system and insert the origial disks and all should be okay?
