RN2100 v2 (X-RAID2) hard disk compability
Hi, thinking of upgrading our RN2100 to 4x4TB, but in the http://kb.netgear.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/20641?utm_source=contactus&utm_medium=website-internal&utm_campaign=contactus_postsales_Ready...

Thanks for the response.
So in our case we have a setup with 4x2TB and almost 95% is used.
I think I read that there are two limitations in os4.2 (correct me if im wrong)
"One is that a volume growth is limited to 8 TiB over its lifetime. The second is that a volume cannot grow over 16 TiB.
You can create a larger volume size than 16 TiB if you use disks of the same size, and do a factory reset with them all in place. That volume can't be expanded though."
So this means that I can't expand our current setup with 4x4TB disks? And that I have to do a factory reset if I want to use 16TB?

If you started with 4x2TB then your volume size began at 6 TB. 4x4TB gives you a volume size of 12 TB. So you won't reach the 8 TiB growth limit (assuming that starting point is correct).
On the other hand, if you initially installed a single 2 TB drive, and then immediately added the others.... in that scenario you'd need to expand 10 TB, and that is over the limit.
Volume size is not the raw disk capacity, it is the size of the actual RAID volume.
