No, I have a 6TB hard drive mounted in a Netgear RN212 (2 bay Desktop ReadyNAS Storage) connected via Eathernet cable to a Netgear Nighthawk AC1900 Router.

Ahh oke, so you have one (of the two bays) populated with a 6TB hard drive right now?
From the looks of it, this sounds like a new setup (or re-setup at least)? If that is the case, and you don't have any data on that drive that you care about, then perform a factory default from the boot menu (this will erase any data on that disk and wipe it and set up NAS anew).

i "think" (please note the quotation marks) that is what i did last night but i will try it again.
How long should the format take to complete?
Thanks

Yea give it a go, as described in that KB article. If it works, it will take 5-7 mins or so to go through the factory default process and when you first access the web page after the reset, it will ask you to setup everything again, like name of the NAS, administrator password, email alerts, etc.
