After I upgraded my RN21400 to the 6.10.0 firmsware it doesn't come up anymore. On the display it says 'Booting' and it stops at 92%. I can't loggin with Putty neither. If I ping the nas I ...

Thx - I took the liberty of correcting the subject lines.

USB recovery will re-load the firmware install image into the NAS flash memory, but it generally won't reinstall the firmware on the disks.

Yes. Though it might not help, I think it's worth a try.

I suggesting trying on OS reinstall next - see pages 58-59 here:http://www.downloads.netgear.com/files/GDC/READYNAS-100/ReadyNAS_%20OS6_Desktop_HM_EN.pdf It's fixed the issue for some folks here (but not all).
That will reset the NAS admin password to password, reset the network connection to DHCP, and disable volume quota. So you will need to change at least the admin password afterwards.

I see that a lot of ppl are having trouble with this firmnware version. Isn't there any formal support? I mean, if I download an official firmware upgrade I expect it to work properly. Now, the reason why I have a NAS with 16TB is to make sure all my data is safe. Howcome this is possible and why is there no Netgear support?
What if I can't restore the NAS fully? I will loose all my data? Such a bad publicity from NETGEAR...

Ok, did a reinstall of the OS and this worked.
Tnx for the advice.
Still wondering why this can happen.
Cheers.

Hard to say - I haven't seen much in the forums here that suggest a cause for this particular symptom with 6.10.0. Often there are issues related to apps (particulary third party ones).
It is a good idea to make sure your backup is up to date before you trigger the update.
