RN214, RN NV+ and APC UPS 1500

Hi,

I try to configure my RN NV+ and RN 214 (new) to find my UPS (APC 1500 SmartUPS)

I don't get it to work. The NV+ used to see the UPS with USB, but recently (since i have two nasses) i switched to a network management card in the UPS.

Can anyone tell me exactly how to connect both RN to the UPS so both of them can benefit the 'switch off' when needed?

The RN NV+ has 192.168.2.3

The RN 214 has 192.168.2.5

The UPS has 192.168.2.6

Thanks for the info!

  • The normal solution with two ReadyNAS is to connect one NAS to the USB port of the UPS, and then set up the second ReadyNAS to monitor the UPS though the directly connected NAS.

For instance, connect the RN214 to the APC, click the UPS settings wheel on the RN214 and check "enable network monitoring of attached UPS". Then check the box the NV+ to "Enable monitoring of UPS physically attached to a remote ReadyNAS" and enter the RN214's IP address.

You also want to ensure that the two NAS are connected to the same router or switch, and that the switch/router is also protected by the UPS.

One disadvantage is that the directly connected NAS needs to be turned on all the time.

      Thanks!

This worked for me.  Both NAS's are now protected ;-)

They remain powered on anyhow. So the power issue is not really an issue for me.

All three devices (NAS's and Switch are connected to the UPS)
