With what you have tried, there really is a possibility that a hardware problem is present on your RN31222D. If you have the original receipt and it is under 5 years it would be best if you contact NETGEAR Support right away to request for RMA.
Regarding the disks and it's data provided that they are healthy, you can transfer them to a new NAS or have them connected to a PC and use third party recovery software like ReCLAIMe to recover your data.

As for data recovery, not directly in Windows, but ReclaiMe software says it can: https://www.reclaime.com/ . You can download the demo version to see if it will be successful.
A Linux system with BTRFS installed could as well, though it's not an easy place to go if you are not already familiar with Linux.. And, of course, you can move them over to another OS6 based ReadyNAS.
