Since you are just getting started with the NAS, you should definitely look into converting to OS6 if you intend to use it long term. OS6 was not "officially" released for the Ultra series, so you won't find it in the upgrade path for your NAS. It is a conversion -- you have to start over. But since you are just starting, now is the time to do it if you are going to. While OS6 likely also will not be updated further, RAIDiator 4.2.31 (the last official OS for your NAS) is many years older.

Actually have had this NAS unit for about a year now. Been working with NAS since mid 2000's though. Different Mfr.
I wanted to see and experience NGs NAS and though lets give it a try. Found a cheepy on goodwill and got some used 500Gb drives I had on hand. Been using it for OS image storage and backup and in beta testing projects. And ya, running out of space so may look into upgrading the drives some time soon to something larger. Unit has been working great so far.
