suggested UPS for ReadyNAS NV+ v2?

Hi All, forgive me if this is the incorrect forum in which to ask this:

I have a ReadyNAS NV+ v2 with 3 drives in it (at present), and I'd like to get a UPS. Power outages here are very infrequent (only when we've had an electrician on site, actually), but I'd like a bit of protection all the same. Just enough power for the NAS to shut itself down would be all I need.

Can anyone suggest an inexpensive UPS to purchase here in the UK? Amazon UK has this one: http://www.amazon.co.uk/APC-BE550G-UK-I ... ywords=ups but I don't know how to evaluate power requirements and extra features (I understand that the NAS can be smart enough to shut itself down gracefully when mains power goes, but how do I know if a UPS offers this feature?)

Many thanks in advance for any help!

Chas

Most but not all APC units that have a USB port (must not be serial to USB, needs to be a USB port) are compatible.
  • Thanks, that's very much appreciated.

Follow-up: do you know how I can calculate the capacity I should get?

APC has a runtime calculator on their website, I believe. Decide what devices to connect to the UPS and take a look.
  • Ah, clever of them, I'll check it out. Thanks for the pointer.
