Suitable Fan Replacement for NV
I have an NV (purchased May, 2006) and the fan is getting noisy. The current fan is an ADDA AD0912HB-A76GL. It is rated at 0.25A at 12V DC. The specs say the airflow is 52.5 CFM at 2900 RPM. The n...

Thanks for the reply. I should have been more clear about the issue in my original post. The increased noise in the current fan is the bearings going bad. The noise level from the the fan when it was operating normally was fine. I also must have written something down wrong regarding the model. The current one is definitely a 3-wire fan and not a PWM.
When I installed the Noctua, it was installed the same direction as the current one. The temperatures were within the limits that are displayed in Frontview but I don't really use those as a guide. The high end of the "normal" range is 140°F. I don't recall how high they went before I shut it down but they were quite a few degrees higher than they were with the old fan. A quiet fan would be nice but I really didn't want to have my NV run hotter as a result. To me, that's just asking for trouble on a unit this old. Typically, with an ambient temperature of 78°F, my NV runs around 88°F and disk temperatures range from 87°F to 93°F. The fan runs between 1800 and 2000 RPM. It's currently running at 1829 RPM.
I went ahead and ordered the StarTech fan and it was delivered yesterday. It is actually an Evercool brand. Model EC9225H12BA. The amperage is listed as 0.21A.
So I'll give this one a try and see how it does.
